Project of the Month Winner – Kenny’s Overhead Doors

Our latest Project of the Month winner was nominated for a sleek entry from The Centennial State – Kenny’s Overhead Doors of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. This residential project in Snowmass Village, CO utilized two 8’ wide x 8’6” high black anodized aluminum full view Modern Classics with satin etch glass on a gorgeous home from I.A. Sedgwick, Inc. and Adam Casais (architect). Contemporary homes are all the rage nowadays, and it’s easy to see from these photos why it’s the number one door sold by Kenny’s.

Kenny Meyer, owner of Kenny’s Overhead Doors, got into the garage door industry “by accident” in 1977. In 2004, he decided to quit his job as branch manager at an anonymous garage door manufacturer in favor of starting his own business. Ever since, he’s been spending his time creating great relationships with homeowners and contractors alike – one of his favorite parts of the job.

“I enjoy meeting people, getting to know them and making them happy. I try to leave every customer with a smile and hope they become a long-term customer,” he said in our interview, “I think that’s what I’m known for in the valley – being one of the companies where if something is wrong, we make it right. I want to do things right the first time. Kind of a corny catch phrase but that’s what we like to do.” Kenny really enjoys service work as well as he gets the opportunity to meet several different people in a day.

Kenny also made sure to let us know how much he values the people he works with, citing his experienced, high quality employees as his best asset and his wife, Dorothy, as one of the biggest keys to his success. “Without them, I would be nothing. Dorothy keeps me motivated and will make runs all the way to Denver to pick up doors. She does a lot of the leg work and most of the office work”.
